Regearing swaps the ring and pinion in both axles for a numerically higher ratio to win that drivability back. This collection pulls together ring and pinion sets, front and rear gear packages, and master install and overhaul kits for Jeep Wrangler JL, JK, TJ and Gladiator JT axles from Yukon, Revolution Gear & Axle, Motive Gear and Dana.

Pick the ratio before the parts. Revolution Gear & Axle's JL/JT regear page lists 4.56 to 4.88 for 35-inch tires, 4.88 to 5.13 for 37s and 5.13 to 5.38 for 40s on a 3.6L with the 8-speed automatic, and notes that Dana 35 gear packages top out at 5.13. Yukon's technical FAQ explains how tire size, transmission, cruising RPM and use all change the right answer. Other engines and transmissions differ, so check the maker's chart.

Fitment: Jeep Wrangler JL, JK, TJ/LJ and Gladiator JT axles, including Dana 30, Dana 35, Dana 44 and Dana 60 applications. Match the gear set to your axle and carrier break, and check each product page.

FAQs

Do the front and rear axles need the same ratio?

Yes. Revolution Gear & Axle states that front and rear must run the same ratio.

Do I need a master install kit?

Yes, in most cases. New gears need new bearings, shims and seals, and a master install kit packages them for each axle.

Will my speedometer be wrong after regearing?

It will need recalibrating. Revolution Gear & Axle recommends a programmer such as the Z Automotive Tazer JL Mini on JL and JT.
